Périgueux, capital town of the Dordogne, is located 10 mn drive from Chalagnac.

It is a beautiful town, with old parts such as its gallo-roman quarter called Vesunna, the medieval and Renaissance quarters and the great 18th and 19th Centuries mansions and buildings.

Périgueux offers more than 2000 years of history with 39 buildings classified as historic buildings.

As one of France’s most important protected areas, the Saint-Front romano-byzantine cathedral, is a major stop on the road to St Jacques de Compostelle. It has been inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list since 1998. The other sites are all located within 60 kms: prehistoric sites, caves, castels…
